What is an Assay Certificate?

The Assay Certificate is a form of a certificate of authenticity or a way of grading bullion and provides more credibility to the metal. Precious metals (i.e. Gold, Palladium, Platinum, Silver, Copper, etc) typically will fetch a higher price when accompanied by such a certificate.

Assay (in metallurgy) is defined as: to analyze in order to determine the quantity of gold, silver, or other metal in it.
